Going through the motions man

This one is a bit odd, as you always hear about going through the motions in a negative sense. As if you aren't giving it your best.

And in truth, you should always try to give your best and go hard. Sometimes however you are beat, and tired, and having a bad bad day. In that case going through the motions is much better than not showing up at all.

If you go through the motions it means you showed up. And maybe that work out starts out soft, but by going through the motions you warm up and finish strong.

Or maybe you go through the motions the entire time, but at least you showed up, you did fall back and when you next show up you will be that much closer to your goal than if you didn't show up and go through the motions.

Sometimes it is all you have.
